TRENDS ON THE WEB |
We're
in the habit of asking lots of questions, and then looking for trends
that emerge from the answers. Often we do this informally, but
recently we've structured some online surveys to help us get inside the
minds of the business people we serve. Their responses were
insightful to us, and we hope they will be for you, too.
Marketer's Survey
- Conducted at a recent interactive/direct marketing event.
Respondents included marketers at all levels, as well as
executives. Here's a snapshot of findings:

The average respondent indicates 2.5 marketing focuses
for '08-'09, with the most common combination being "Drive Higher
Sales" and "Engage Prospects". However, for same-company
respondees (representing 33% of the overall mix of participants), there
seems to be a great discrepancy in identified focus. A full 50% of these participants had a zero match to their colleagues
when identifying their focuses for the year. Of the remaining,
those who matched their colleages' identified focuses did so only half
the time (49%). Could there be room in the marketing department for clarity of focus and business objectives?
Salesforce.com User Group Survey - On July 9th, Reside had the opportunity to participate as a guest presenter at the local salesforce.com
user group meeting (as a local consulting
partner). Afterward, we invited this audience to
participate in our online survey, and had a better than 50% response
rate to this invitation. Those results are highlighted below.
On average, survey participants have noted three simultaneous initiatives
at work in their organizations. And for those who
represent the "CRM seat" of the organization, there's a good
chance that all of these initiatives point somehow back to your
realm of accountability. Most common initiative
combo-packs include Email Communications + CRM, or CRM +
Intranet/Portal, or all three. With CRM as the glue linking
the most common initiatives, it seems that more companies
are taking a broader look at integration - moving toward "closed-loop CRM". In fact, a full 16% of respondents indicate that their business is focusing on the integration of ALL
solutions noted.
