1. Letter from the CEO
Dear Colleague,
Summertime greetings from Reside! I never cease to be
amazed at how quickly the months pass, and already we find
ourselves sending our third quarter newsletter. In this
edition, we have compiled several articles from our partners
and affiliates, in order to provide you with a broader scope
of helpful business information.
We are working to improve our newsletter with each issue,
and your feedback will help us do just that. Please feel
free to send me your comments and ideas for future
topics. And don't hesitate to forward this newsletter on

2. Reside News!
Staff Addition: Yes, we're growing! We are
excited to announce that as of June 3, 2002, Marisa Ruzicka
has joined Reside full-time as a staff programmer. With
expertise in HTML, Java, Cold-Fusion, ASP, PHP and more,
Marisa brings aboard valuable skills to support our clients'
projects.
Seeking Account Manager: Reside is currently seeking
applicants for the position of Account Manager. Job
would start on a part-time contract basis, with possible
migration to full-time employee position. Candidates
should have at least 2 years of project management experience,
ideally in a high-tech environment. Individual should
have strong customer service skills, high attention to detail,
ability to prioritize, excellent communication skills,
positive, "can do" attitude, and be a team player.
Interested parties should submit a resume and cover letter to

Duplication & Replication - What's the

Many people use the two terms Duplication & Replication
interchangeably. However, in the world of Disc-Media they are
two very different processes. The purposes of both processes
are similar in the fact that they are used to put data, video,
or audio onto a disc.
In general terms, Duplication (a.k.a. Burning) is a process
where lasers "burn" pits into a dye that is manufactured
inside the disc. Burning is the process used by the drives in
virtually every home or work computer used today. Replication
on the other hand, is an injection molded manufacturing
process that makes use of a "glass master" and stamps the
image (pits of zeros and ones for data or waves for video and
